Bangkok Still Rocks!

Being part Thai, it was a great experience to finally being able to visit Bangkok, Thailand. My 3 night's stay there was incredible, and I wish I could've stayed longer. I decided to do a full-blown photo blog on this, so I won't have mercy on your loading time. The photos below are taken from my brother's digital camera and also scanned pictures taken from my Canon Rebel. Looking at the horrible quality of the scanned photos, this is where I'm jealous of every DSLR owner on the planet. So, to justify the horrendousness of the quality of my photos, please ask to view the original photos in college when I'll see you guys :)

Here we go!

Don't leave meeeeeeeeeeeee

Before we went off to KLIA, our pet cockatiels were giving us sad faces and puppy dog eyes... too bad there aren't bird sitters around.

Anyway...

I find that Thai Airways is one of the best flight companies around.

Not only was the food great, but the service was better, AND the plane was uber comfortable.

It was a smooth ride and we arrived to the Bangkok International Airport where we met up with my Dad who flew in from Vietnam a few hours earlier. We went to get a taxi at the counter, which turned out to be a Mercedes Kompressor!

We got to our hotel and headed out for some sightseeing after a brief rest. The famed Bangkok jam did not materialize during my stay there, which might be because of the elections and many had to return to their hometowns to vote.

... or maybe we didn't notice it because we utilized Bangkok's Skytrain, which resembles Malaysia's LRT system. It's incredibly convenient for tourists and locals alike.

I would like some, please

If you look closely there's a woman playing hide and seek with the camera

This dude was jammin' some serious Hendrix tunes on that old thing

Everyone knows me by my first name here

Didn't have time to sit on one of those Tuk Tuks

Our hotel was right in the middle of town, so getting around the place by foot or by train was pretty easy. Every corner had something interesting to see.

We went to the Chatuchak Weekend Market the next day. The place is a huge 35 acres, selling anything from squirrels to furniture. This is the place to bargain, and the place to really find curious eccentricities. I, for one, got stuck at the pets section...

You look like a little sheep, but I think you know that

Bunny in a shirt, anyone?

Like in Vietnam, I felt the amazement of finding pork-related food items on menus in almost every restaurant, when I realize that I'm not in a Muslim-dominated country anymore. Nando's Restaurant in Bangkok had a better variety of items to order, even steak. McDonald's Prosperity Burger had a choice of chicken or pork. Bacon and ham in pizzas from The Pizza Company!

Evilly laced with ham

The day after, my Dad's Thai colleague flew down from Vietnam as well and he and his wife made us all the more touristy by taking us to The Grand Palace. It was breathtaking, and only these photos (although in shitty quality) can say more.

I particularly like this shot

There was serious shopping going on in between all this but I'll spare you the details.

Our last day was pretty rushed, but I had to take a picture of this shop inside our hotel before we left:

Jewelry shop living a double life

Our flight was without incident and by the time we got back home (in yet another Mercedes, woohoo), it was 8pm, and we were dead dog tired.

Tha hell u've been?

Our pet birds were pretty excited to see us the next day, and continued singing Jingle Bells for us in celebration.
