Buy me a new life

Today, the semester's over, finally -- oh finally. The last essay that I had passed up on Monday turned out to be a cut-and-paste of incoherent facts by my standards, but what the hell, I just wanted to get rid of the work and move on to the holidays.

The screening for my video documentary this morning went fine, but it wasn't great. Apparently subtitles made in the safe-zone in Adobe Premier Pro still gets stuck outside viewing area in the Screening Room's television set. The audio for a particular interview was also unexpectedly almost horrendous. A difference in technology perhaps, since the viewing for the Forensics Team yesterday went well without any hitches, and visuals and audio didn't give any problems. We screened through an LCD projector yesterday. Other than the annoyance of technology, our video was well-received, thankfully.

Speaking of the Forensics Team, the environment in the meeting room yesterday seemed more indifferent and hostile this time around. For the first time, we were asked to sign our names into their visitor's log book. We never had to for the numerous occasions during pre-production and production. A female doctor who was very friendly during our interview shoot with her was more stern in her actions and voice this time. Maybe she was mad because I omitted her interview from our video because it got corrupted...

Only four people from the department were present, and unfortunately, the two doctors who were with us throughout the planning and shoot of our project was not present. One of them had to fly to Johor Baru for a case while we were waiting for the rest of our group members. Guess that's why we were picked on - our 'support team' wasn't there.

While we were relieved that they didn't have any objections to the autopsy visuals we used, we were shocked of hearing that they will be sending a 'feedback' letter to our university. It's a letter to tattle on us, basically. They told us that the letter would contain two items about us -- punctuality and attire. While I think that the punctuality part was mostly because my Production Manager arrived 30 minutes late to the meeting with the DVD of our work (I'm still kinda pissed about it), but attire?? Apparently we "didn't dress appropriately" for our shoot. Okay, if jeans and T-shirts aren't decent enough, I don't know what is. None of us even wore slippers because we didn't want any dead people fluid touching us. They should have informed us on, um, their desired dressing code before we started our project, and not just drop a bomb on us like that without warning.

Okay, fine, maybe they're not educated on the culture of attire of production crews. They'll probably faint at the sight of what Hong Kong production crews wear -- most of them are in shorts, slippers, and singlets.

Anyway, the letter won't actually have any effect on us. I'm just unsatisfied at their sudden inhospitableness (if that's even a word). Well, at least they liked the video.

So now that I've got the semester behind me, organization is a priority now. The physical organization of my room, and the spiritual, mental, & emotional organization of myself. I have to clean my room and mind of past and present clutter. So many things to throw out, so many emotional attachments. Sometimes I could use some anti-sentimentalism.

My housing in Curtin has been confirmed for the 8th of July. I won't be able to go that soon though. I have to wait for my results first, which will only be out around the second week of July. Right after that, is a mad rush of visa applications, medical check-ups, and what not for my flight on (hopefully) the 18th.

For now, all I can do is other stuff, like buying a laptop, and getting some warm clothes since it'll be the dead of winter when I get there. I am almost literally buying myself a new life.

I could use a new life.
